Many people tend to live in the past, at least occasionally. Thinking about the memorable past and talking about it are heartwarming and joyful.  However, the moments where considering about the past in a negative way that keep you from moving forward are never good for you. It make you depressed and disappointed at yourself, although you actually should no be. We all make mistakes and we are not all perfect. Those mistakes should not hold our advancement.

I do like David’s saying “Advance! Don’t Look Back !” Those are short words that are inspiring and provoking. We all should look forward in life, not behind you. When you climb a very high mountain, you would not want to look down or back. It is because you know that once you do that, it will make you fear and scared. It won’t be never a way to be successful to reach the climax.

It sounds hard to just look forward. So, we should remind ourselves every and each day. You should realize that the present moment is what you have now and what is the most important at the moment. Life is short. You definitely do not want your negative past to keep you move forward.

많은 사람들이 최소한 종종, 과거에서 살려고 한다. 기억에 남는 과거들을 기억하고, 그것들에대해 얘기 하는것은 마음이 따뜻해지고 행복해진다. 그러나, 과거에대해 부정적으로 생각하는것은 당신이 앞으로 전진할수 있는것에대해 좋지 않다. 이 부정적인 생각들은 그럴 필요가 없는데도, 당신스스로에게 실망하고 좌절하게 만들것이다. 우리는 모두가 실수를 하고 완벽하지 않다. 그러한 실수가 우리가 미래를 위해 달리는것을 막으면 안된다.

나는 작가가 말하는 “전진하라 ! 뒤를 돌아보지말아라!” 라는 구절이 좋다. 이것들은 짧지만, 아주 마음에 와닿는 구절이다. 우리는 모두 삶에서 과거에 얽메이지 말고, 앞을 보고 전진해야한다.  너가 매우 높은 산을 오를때, 너는 밑을 보거나 뒤를 보지 않는것이 좋다. 너가 뒤를 보는 순간, 너는 온갖 공포를 느끼게 될것이다. 이것은 당신이 꼭대기 까지 올라가는데에 방해가된다.

오직 앞만 보고 달리는것은 힘들을 수도 있다. 그래서 우리는 우리 스스로에게 매일 기억을 되세겨야 한다. 우리는 현재의 상태가 지금 너가 가지고있는것이고 그 상황에서 가장 중요한것이라고 깨달아야 한다. 삶은 짧다. 당신은 당신의 부정적인 과거가 앞을 나아가는것을 막게 해선 안된다.

How do we truly transform ourselves into full grown human. I read an interesting piece on Birnbaum’s one of book series, “The Lost Manuel”. He said “Ultimately, we can transform ourselves
into Temples of the Spirit” We spend a lot of time on worrying about our lives: how can we become happy, how can we become rich, and so on. We often don’t feel satisfied about our lives. However, it is very simple to actually clear your mind and stop thinking unnecessary things. Sometimes it is good to empty your mind and relax to find yourself into “Temples of the Spirit.”

우리는 어떻게 우리스스로를 완전하게 자란사람으로 변형시킬수 있을까. 범바움 작가책들중에서 흥미로운 구석을 발견했다. 그는 “우리는 우리스스로를 궁극적으로 신성의 궁전으로 변형시킬수 있다”고 말한다. 우리는 우리 삶에대해 걱정하면서 시간을 소비한다: 그리나 어떻게 우리가 행복해질수 있을까, 어떻게 부자가 될수 있을까등등. 우리는 종종 우리에 삶에 대해 만족함을 느끼지 못한다. 그러나, 우리 마인드를 깨끗이 하고, 우리가 불필요한것에대해 생각하는것을 멈추는 것은 쉬운 일이다. 가끔은 우리의 마인드를 비우고 우리자신들을 평화의 궁전에서 평화로이 쉬는것도 나쁘지 않다.

When you want to do a very good job on something, you try and work hard. Some people tend to be seen by other people about they work hard. But some people truly work hard. Their mind sets are very developed. They really want to put their efforts on the work that they do. Also, they are happy about the work and result. As Birnbaum says “Typically, the mind
is a greater force-multiplier,” I think people should have a good mind when they are on their journeys such as study, work, future path and internship and so on.

Everyone has his/her own busy life. Many things are going on in our lives, As a result, we often do not pay attention to our own behavior and also the effect from those whom we interact with. We just take life and people around us for granted. We all shape our destiny. But, I believe the destiny that we build is not only built by you but also precious people around you.  As we head towards our final destiny, we should  think about ourselves or analyze our actions and behaviors.

My parents used to tell my brother and me that “because you two got smart genes from us, you will be smart as well” as a joke (maybe it was not the joke for them…). I think what David Birnbaum try to say is also similar to the one my parents used to tell us. I do not think it is always as if because of that, it will be this. It could be another result. But, I guess we believe in ourselves and what parents(or ancestors) have.

What we need is realistic goals. We can dream of walking on Mars and stars, being a time traveler at the speed of light, having tons of money in the bank, which are unreachable objectives . Those aims are just totally out of sight – and we can have a perfectly enjoyable life without them anyway.

But you also need to think seriously about reality in our life. We can daydream all we want but sometimes life does not follow in a way of what you want it to be. 

The ultimate KEY, respectfully, is as follows:

If we can,
on-the-one-hand,
understand Infinitude/Divineness.

And yet,
simultaneously,
be down-to-earth and grounded, 
we then stand to inherit
both heaven and earth.

I believe that opportunities do not come by themselves. We always should search and practice for them with a positive attitude. According to Birnbaum, “Capitalizing on our opportunity is often a key determinant. You are heavily impacted by your mental-image of yourself.” I agree with these two phrases. We should believe in ourselves. We grow up and become what we think we will be in the future.

Everyone makes a goal for his/her life. When I make a goal, I usually plan things that are a little higher than what I actually can achieve. For example, if you are deciding which college to go, I would plan for Ivy league schools first and study for that goal. I believe that although I don’t get accepted by Harvard, I would probably get accepted by good enough schools. According to Birnbaum, “Be wary of any and all causes ‘larger than yourself.’ Only those at the top-of-the-pyramid emerge NET WINNERS.” This is very true and realistic. But, although I know the reality, I will not give up my hope. The phrase that Only the top person can be the winner would sound very direct, but believing in it would also encourage me to develop.

As we all know, positive thinking leads to a better life. Most people might be likely to think that positive thinking means to understand the world through colored lenses. If so, we need to fix the way we think. I think positive thinking actually is to face life’s challenges with a positive perspective. Avoiding or ignoring negative things does equal to positive thinking. I think that we should try hard to discover the best in yourself and other people in a positive outlook.
